The Definition of "Is"...

I think AG Greg Abbot needs to check to see if one of his wheel locks is dragging, he seems to be making a lot of u-turns lately.

Back in 2007, his office released an order that ruled that the NHMCCD Foundation (now renamed the Lone Star College District Foundation) was a governmental entity under the TXPIA laws because it derived support from the college that was not an arms length vendor type relationship. That support consisted of staff, office space, insurance coverage, use of district email and phones and office equipment. For all intents and purposes, the college and the foundation's operations were one in the same. They later issued a revised order that stated that the donor's names and identifying information could be kept confidential, but left intact the ruling that they are a governmental entity under the act. There is some question whether this revision was lawful since it was made AFTER the 15 day appeal period and was not due to a lawsuit in Travis county as the law stipulates. But be that as it may, even the revised order states that the Foundation is a government entity for purposes of TXPIA at least for the most part.

Two days ago, they issued another ruling that completely reverses the prior rulings. So much for consistency...

I couldn't retrieve the new ruling, but it doesn't surprise me. I could say something nasty, but it would serve no purpose.

Ah, I was afraid of that. I was trying something different with the links and I wasn't sure it would work right. Lemme see what I can do about fixing that.

I have to wonder if they realize that LSCS and NHMCCD Foundations are one in the same.

Me thinks that a can of worms has been opened up here, when one looks at "Who's Buying Texas Politicians" one can't help but notice the new Texas House speaker is surrounded and covered with contributions from the very law firms that practice before him.
.
Seems that B & G law firm really screwed up in the past on this one, when one searched your past posts on the matter. You are correct, they did exceed their alloted 15 day and did not file a suit as required by State Law in Travis County. (see previous postings).
.
Now this one, bigger than "Dallas." One would think Obama and the Dems had a hand in this matter, but I doubt that they could scrwe this up this bad, even if they tried....
.
Well it the SOS, and just in a different pot, with a new label.

Rorschach;

It's not a question of consistency, it's a question of changing the names and definitions as you need to.

I think it's safe to say that shortly, they'll start changing the laws for their own gain.

"Don't bother or question us, we're only trying to help. But we can't without your support, so please send us some money.

"More than that.

"More than that.

"No, that's still not enough. Look, just give me the wallet. If there's anything left, I'll give it to you after my donors and backers also have their cut."

Take care!
