If only I had a gun...

That is what one witness, one who had started to apply for a CHL in Nebraska but decided he'd never need it, was saying to himself...

He has since changed his mind and has decided to go ahead with the CHL application.

We like to think of out society as a free and peace loving, fruitful and happy place. We only sometimes how much work it took to get to that state of freedom and quite ofter we want to forget the trials and tribulations that got us here.

Freedom is like exercise, if we don't keep it up we fall frail and disoriented and our coordination denigrates. It is a childish wish that we never ever have to chop wood, haul water and do gainful work to keep a roof over our heads, but even in today's society we must.

We also must be ever vigilante to our surroundings, safety and our freedoms, for they will become ever lost with neglect and arrogance....

Odds of winning a lotto: 1 in 39,000,000
Struck by lighting 1: 100,000
killed by disease 1: 10,000
killed or victim of a crime: 1:100

Care to place a bet?

Thanks for sharing this link. What a frightening ordeal. I would probably have been too paralized to even move. Thunder is right. Freedom is like exercise. Where some laws give us the freedom to act in self-defense, when we do so, we're perceived as vigilantes or worse. Obviously, there are no clear answers. And isn't it awful that no one will be prosecuted for so many senseless deaths?
