The more things change.....
The more they stay the same..... Maria Flotte O'Neil resigned recently and a committee was set up by the NHMCCD board of trustees to find a replacement. Word on the street is that the replacement was chosen before-hand and the interview process is just for show. That person is Hector C. Carreño. The rumor is that he was selected because of his ties to Sylvester Turner, who is on the House Appropriations committee.
Why is it that the Board must operate in such a non-transparent manner?

They want to be recognized for the boobs they are?
Pathetic. May 2008 is just around the corner. How much damange can Hector C. Carreño do without bond money to play around with?
Has his appointment been made official yet?
" Mr. Carreño currently serves on the board of Civic Technologies LLC, engaged in the business of offering secure technology solutions to state lottery agencies; and on the board of Red Door Properties, LLC, a real estate development company. "
Do we really need someone like this on our school board? How much "business" will he try to swing to his cohorts by way of tax funded dollars? How many boards does he need to sit on?
Scary!!!!
Hector's selection is a lateral move... not one that will aspire to greater heights......
THE WHO says it best:
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss....We don't get fooled again....
You've heard my Cell phone's ringtone haven't you! =D
I don't have a problem with Hector, per se. He is a fine man, of good character, and had I any cash back in 2004, would have hired him to help me unseat Queen Sheila.
With all the scrutiny, I would hope the choice was an effort to bring leadership on-board.
Royko, Hector may in fact be an excellent choice, but it is of course hard to say since we the taxpayer aren't being consulted or kept informed. What gets me is the fact that the choice was made before any interviews were conducted, my informant tells me that he did not seek the appointment, someone in the administration called him and asked him to submit his resume. When he asked when he could come in for an interview he was told that he was the heir apparent and that he could come anytime he liked. So what in hell was the point of asking for resumes and conducting interviews if it was just for show?

I have to tell you, RedInc, it makes me want to cry. It just does. There is no justice nor honestly left in this wicked, wicked world.
