Adventures in Headline Writing Part 98704

Yet another headline that does not match the text of the article. I will however note that this is an AP article and the headline MAY be theirs.... And this is a screenshot just in case the article falls down the memory hole as errors are wont to do at 801 Texas Ave....

Clearly that headline was written by somebody at the Chron. Not the AP.

The headline writer only read the first sentence of the story, which in characteristically muddy AP style, gives the clear impression that two people won the lawsuit. A bus driver and a minister. I thought there were two people as well, and it took a couple of re-readings to see that the story was about just one person - not two.

The lede should have been edited to say "A bus driver, who is also a minister in his spare time, etc etc." That would make it clear that just one person won the lawsuit.
