A Lack of Voter Integrity

If you've been reading my stuff for a while, you know that ensuring the integrity of the voting process is my number one hot button issue. But that does not just mean the election process, that is ALL voting. My state legislator, Debbie Riddle, has been busted on video, along with a whole bunch of other legislators, of voting for other legislators during house record votes. This undermines the very representative nature of the legislature. It is not clear in this report if the people voting are voting the way those absent legislators want to vote or if they are voting the way THEY want them to vote. Now, I could see, in a more polite and honest world, where a legislator needed to go to the bathroom or whatever and entrusted someone with their key in order to vote a particular way that they had already decided on. It is not exactly following the rules, but if the level of trust is there, I could see where corners might get cut. But in this instance, people are voting for legislators of the opposite party, I'd be willing to bet, they are voting against the legislator's wishes. When I check online to see who voted for or against a bill I'm following, how am I to know whether that legislator actually voted for or against that bill or not?

This is completely against the concept of one person-one vote and MUST BE STOPPED!

The fact that Riddle thinks she and her collegues should be held to a different standard than the very bill she introduced makes me shudder at what else this *legislator* is up to.

It's despicable - no matter how you cut it, and I for one will be sure to tell her what I think about this pratice! Especially since I live in her district.

This woman needs to GO!

I guess Riddle will ascend to the ranks of Ken Lay, Jimmy Swaggart and a few other notables.

It's time for a true conservative replacement and a red white and blue Republican that can exhibit leadership. RINOS are always running with a herd and have this herd mentality and the actions reported prove it. In March of 2008 I assume the field will be crowded, and let us not be blinded again. I along with many conservative Republicans are tired of the charade and the me me me me BS.

We are tired of your inaction when we complain of high taxes and your grand standing and then passing off your husband's business card to consult on taxes... that is no solution and a bit trite.

Leadership is done by setting examples, deeds and giving of one's self. The examples set forth are inexcusable and you should just resign and save us the embarrassment.

Sticking your head up at the Republican clubs will just be a further embarrassment, so please excuse and spare us the humiliation.

Do you think I want to bring school children up to Austin ans see how the 'monkeys' behave and set the ethical and tone of integrity in the state's most hollow house?

I guess it galls me to think that people like this can get away with telling us the gospel and doing the devils deeds when they think no one is looking. It just goes to show their true lack of integrity, honesty and total lack of common sense...so no wonder we have such screwed up laws and legislation and tow faced garbage coming from Austin.

Ror

Run for her seat!

Her antics in 2003 introducing the appraisal cap herself and then working behind the scenes to kill her won bill...

Also begged her to come out to Spring and Klein Baord meetings to ask questions about how the STATE funds were being spent

Her reaction

go out to expensive private lunches with the administration

Eric, I've contemplated that, but there are a few problems, not the least of which is that I am not an independently wealthy man. Were I do quit my job to go to Austin, I'd bring home about $250 a month for a few months, every other year. I'd lose everything I owned because my wife's salary alone is nowhere NEAR enough to keep my household going. If you or others have an idea on how to make that work without me being beholden to whoever holds the purse strings, I'm all ears. But I am not willing to sacrifice my integrity to be the paid pawn of someone else.
