Blowing sunshine up our collective arse
Remember Christian Trejbal? The guy that thought it was a fine and wonderful use of the open records laws to publish the entire Virginia Concealed Carry Permit list, complete with addresses and phone numbers on the web? The database of which was immediately copied and mirrored all over the net? The Virginia AG's office took notice of that act of stupidity and made the CCW database no longer an open public record. Unfortunately there is nothing quite like closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out and gotten hit by a Mexican 18 wheeler with defective brakes. That said, the AG did what he could, a lot of crime victims and victims of domestic violence are on those lists. It's a little to little, a little too late, for VA CHL holders, but at least the AG did SOMETHING, even if you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube. The Texas Legislature has a similar bill before it as well. SB322 passed the state Senate 30-0 Monday, as did SB 534. Both bills however are hung up in the Calendars Committee in the Legislature.
Let's give Woolley and crew a holler and make sure they understand that the right to privacy applies to the 2nd Amendment as well. Shall We?
