Call to Protest goes unanswered
Ladies and gents, a while back I posted a Call to Protest in the hopes that those of us who oppose continued illegal immigration would stand up and be counted. I had hoped that such a call would be picked up and trumpeted around the local blogsphere in an effort to garner attention for the cause. Apparently I misjudged the general citizenry of Houston. I recieved a total of 13 favorable responses compared with the tens of thousands of illegals turning out on a nearly daily basis. This is beyond sad. This is pathetic. If we cannot turn out a similar number when the national and local polls clearly show better than 75% of the populace are against illegal immigration and amnesty, I question whether we have the moral right to even govern this nation. I figured this protest would be a slam dunk. Clearly I was badly mistaken. If we hold such a rally and only a dozen people show up (if that), what will the message be to the media who clearly are pandering to the illegals? What will that tell the politicians who apparently are pandering to them as well? We just don't give a damn, that is what. I give up. I'll continue my calling an cajoling of the politicians, but I am tired of trying to stir Americans to do anything but sit on the sidelines and bitch about the outcome.
