Anti-gun activist stabbed to death in her home.

Sometimes, karma can be a real bitch. 53 year old Pat Regan, who founded the Leeds branch of Mothers Against Guns in the UK after her son Danny was shot in 2002, has been stabbed to death in her home, her grandson, has been arrested in connection with the murder and is also believed to have been arrested earlier that day for the stabbing of a railway worker who confronted him for trespassing. Had guns been available, Mrs Regan could possibly have defended herself. But of course she would have had to have had the mental ability to do so as well.

"In February, Mrs Regan was involved with the launch of a DVD warning about the dangers of gun and knife gang culture."

Knife gang culture? Harkens back to the 50s when punks ran around with switch blades (I guess).

One wouldn't normally suspect a family member to come after you with a knife, but in today's climate who the hell knows anymore? It is ironic, rather, that a champion of gun control ultimately couldn't control her own safety. Can any of us?

Sad story, nevertheless

I'm with you on the gun, son, but I contend that she should of been a birth control advocate before she whelped a nest of vipers!

Txgoodie, therein lies the root problem. Killing people is already against the law in every single country I know of. If they are willing to do that and (at least here in Texas) run the risk of getting a nice shot of KCl for their trouble courtesy of TDCJ, then what makes anyone think that that niggling little thing about what kind of weapon is legal to own will even rise to the attention of the perp?

This woman's son died, not because someone had a gun, but because he was hanging around with murderers. This woman died not because her grandson had a knife, but because her grandson was a murderer. This woman died because when he was arrested earlier in the day for knifing a man, he was not KEPT behind bars. He was instead allowed to go free, probably bailed out by the very woman he ended up killing.

Lastly, this woman died because she did not have the mental preparedness and will to live that allowed her to even contemplate defending herself. You do not HAVE to have a gun to defend yourself, it is merely a better tool than most others, but other tools will serve too. A knife of her own, or a clothes iron, or a iron skillet, or a baseball bat, or a pan of boiling water, or a fork, or her own two hands could have been used as weapons too.

The fundamental problem was that this woman never grasped that some people are dangerous and will kill you if given the proper circumstances, and some of those circumstances could be as simple as breathing their air.
